Why is Serbia attractive for multinational companies?
Serbia was the largest region of the former Yugoslavia.
A major advantage of Serbia is its low labour costs compared to other European countries. It varies greatly by region, but is much lower in rural areas than in urban areas.
Cheap is not the only reason. The workforce is generally more educated than elsewhere for similar costs and has significantly better English proficiency.
Another way to do business in Serbia is through public incentives.
These incentives are more suitable for medium/large enterprises than foreign small enterprises.
Serbia has signed numerous free trade agreements with many important countries.
They have free trade agreements with the European Union, Turkey, the United States, the Eurasian Economic Union (Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan) and are part of the Balkan Free Trade Agreement. The combined population of this country is over 1 billion people.
This makes Serbia an excellent base for companies wishing to export their products.
